We never count pups till they are out and toddling around the cage. It's really best not to know as if you have a count you fret over ones that are lost. It is very common for mum to cull dead or weak pups and she will dispose of these herself. If she senses one has someting wrong or that she is unable to care for all or if she is stressed by disturbance then she will cull them. This is normal and you should leave her be as mother always knows best. Pups this young have no chance without their mother so be sure to give her plenty space and quiet.
Now the pups are here you may hear little clicky noises as they suckle and little squeaks or sort of creaky door chirps from the nest. All litters are different though and some are very quiet and content. Feed mum some extras now like a little veg daily and a dish of oat porridge with a splash of milk as well as tiny amounts of chopped egg, chicken or tofu. This will increase as the pups grow and you start feeding them too.
Congratulations and hope all goes well now. So glad you got her separated before the birth!!

Looking forward to seeing the pups! Remember not to go near them until about 2 weeks old though or Mrs C could get stressed out and even eat them.

Bet they are going to be adorable, with such lovely parents.

Mom and pups are doing fine! Don't worry, I'm not bothering them. Just doing a visual check in (not too close) every few hours. Making sure there's plenty of food and water. No pictures, no touching; I did however get a basic count (eyes only) when Mrs. went to the lower level to get water. I'm just overly excited but trying to be super patient at this point.

The cage is in a quiet part of the house away from the dogs so everything should be fine. Just gonna leave em where they are for a few weeks.

Thanks to all for the kind words and advice

The lower level? They are not on a shelf are they? It's not safe for pups to be on a higher level. They will start to crawl out at about 10 days and will be blind so they wont see any drops.
It's good to hear they seem to be doing well though now.
