I don't know
Hey,
I recently bought a new hamster. I really know a lot of hamster species but because Fiko is brown i cant really tell.. I helped fiko because the pet shop was really stupid and give all sorts of wrong things to my hamster. they don't even know which species it was and they 'think' it's a boy and that he is 7 weeks...
I couldn't really chek the gender yet because everything is new here and he is a little stressed.
Here is a picture.
Help me find the gender please.

Re: I don't know
S/he is a russian hybrid, that's a cross Winter White & Campbells Russian, no pet shop Russians are pure bred so you can be sure s/he is a hybrid.
It's impossible to tell from those photos which gender s/he is, we need to see photos from underneath, if need be you can put your ham in a glass jar to have a good look underneath.
Russian hybrids are prone to diabetes so you do need to take a little extra care with diet, no sugary treats, fruit or anything sweet, stick to a good dwarf mix & fresh veg along with other natural healthy treats.

Re: I don't know
Like cypher said, he/she is a Russian hybrid because he's from a shop. You can only guarantee a pure WW or Campbells via a pedigree from a breeder. A picture in a jar or small clear box will help us a lot Congrats on him/her by the way!

Re: I don't know
Oh! thanks for the reply and it was exactly what i expected him/her to be.
I know that you can't see the gender from above but s/he is just settling in in a new cage and i didn't want to cause more stress...
and s/he is really fast but now s/he is beginning to trust me a little bit
x thanks!

Re: I don't know
I'm going to say female as well. She doesn't appear to have testicles and her scent gland isn't super pronounced as it would be in males. Although I'm not super experienced with dwarfs so I'd wait for more experienced owners

Re: I don't know
Looks female to me. I have had experience with sexing dwarfs and this definitely looks like a girl hamster
