Oh how I despise unknowledged people

I was asked to sex some Hamsters for a person over whelmed with Syrian hamsters after the store bought hamster they bought was found pregnant and blessed them with 16 pups just days of her coming home with them.

The store refused to take any of them and was so kind to tell them they could keep all the pups together until they started fighting

They gave away a few pups but the pups were never sex split nor single caged so at 4 months old they still had ALL the pups together and you can probably guess what has occurred. 10 pups with 2 being female and 8 being males. So I now have two very sweet girls here ready to bust any day. One is Short Haired, and one is Long haired. SH girl has lots of belly white and many of the siblings had white ticking which usually means there is the Wh gene in play so I am speaking positively that no eyeless white pups will occur but the odds are stacked in the favor of there being some with the SH girl. Thank the Lord above the LH girl has no belly white at all.

The boys are now in single bin cages and they have some people coming to collect 3 of the 8 boys. They had a pet store call but wanted other colors then Black, and they refused to keep the pups separate if they took them so the gal will be placing a advert for them in the local feed store as well as grocery store ad board. At least they can say with confidence the pups are boys, and no more pups will be happening.

The SH girl now named Joetta safely gave birth Friday night and is staying well buried in the eco bedding nest. I've heard a few chirps so there are live pups in the mountain nest somewhere. Still waiting on the LH girl to birth.

Oog what a bad situation. All that inbreeding and unwanted babies. Glad you stepped in though and there won't be anymore unwanted pups after LH gives birth. Good luck!

2nd litter safely arrived on the 8th and Mom is being a great mom only leaving the nest for food and water then right back to the pups. Being born on Election day I may call this litter the Trumps

Think that's a great thing you are doing in rescuing lots of hamsters and then rehoming them. You are a rescue and a breeder

Oh my the 1st litter pups are popping out of the nest like popcorn tonight and I have seen at least 3 Blacks and 1 BEC and more two pups are quite shy of fur and those two seem to be a Sable and another BEC. I'm praying the two with no fur are just slow growing a coat and not hairless, as the hairless gene is not a healthy gene at all and even more caution is needed to properly place these type hamsters.

I'm unsure if there is more pups as Mom was busy doing the snatch and drag back to the nest game and solid black pups tend to look alike. All the above were chowing down on Banana/Peas/Pears/ and oatmeal baby food tonight and is how I know the above information.

The Trumps are still too young to leave the nest so have a bit more time to wait for their appearances.

What are you planning on doing with them? Surely you can't keep them all? But I imagine that rehoming them could be difficult as well as they arent purebred?
