Re: Unexpected surprise
Doesn't sound promising for the one pup that is blocked out of the nest? Hopefully she will remember that he is out there and come and get him? I wonder if you could lift the lid of the nesting part of the cage, hoping you put the whole nesting platic part of the Critter Cage into the bin. I'd open the lid and use a spoon to put him back in the nest myself. Id do this asap.

Re: Unexpected surprise
Oh they are all running around the bin now. She seems to be setting in with them, though nervous. Last I checked, they were all in the nest box sleeping

Re: Unexpected surprise
Oh my! What an experience for you. Keep her as quiet as possible since she's bound to be anxious. Don't bother her at all. There really was no other way to handle this except as everyone said. I hope Mama calms down and it all goes well. You've had some welcome to the world of hamsters and Hamster Central!

Re: Unexpected surprise
So the surprise was the unexpected litter and the fact that mama had them in a really awkward place. LOL You know, I should have realized that you had some experience. You sounded pretty calm about it all. How is she now?

Re: Unexpected surprise
I'll know tomorrow night. Had to leave for the weekend to see family. But I put her in darkest quietest room. And waited a few hours before going. The babies were all nestled together sleeping and mom was sleeping close by. I made some wet food before leaving just in case.they explored alot despite the fact they can't see so I have no doubt they can find food easily

Re: Unexpected surprise
It was probably for the best to have no one around so they could settle. Hope they are all okay.
