I think you need to set up the bin cage now then take the whole of that yellow top section off including the nest and place it in the bin cage containing loads of food, ripped tissue and a low water bottle. Flip the lid open and immediate cover the whole thing with a thick cover in a darkened room and don't even look for 24hrs.
After that take a peep and hope that the pups are in a new nest with mum and the lid thing can be removed. Keep her very quiet and dark untill all is settled. Good luck. I'd wipe my hands in the substrate before touching the nest pod.

A new water bottle that can simply be attached to the bottom level is needed if the nest is in that level.

Bin cage is better option though.

That hide away lifts completely up and out. Couldn't you just put the entire plastic hide away in a bin cage and open it up?

I agree to remove the nesting area and open it up with a dark towel for 24 hours like others have said.

I tried to link it and was denied. It's a supper critter trail 2. Can some one link or send a pic of best type of cage to move them to. I think I could move the hideaway safely if I could put it in the bottom of a large cage and provide a treat to distract mommy.just a note, mine the water bottle is down low. Using a regular water bottle that has wire tie to the side.

The easiest way to go would be bin cage 110qt, using velcro, industrial strength to hold the water bottle holder.

You could also go with a glass tank 40 gal breeder tank, which would be much more expensive as Pet-Co doesn't have it on sale right now.

I like the Critter cages, 20 gal long made out of Plexiglas glass. I get them from a local area pet store tho. They are just like the glass tanks but much lighter.

I'd set this bin cage up as soon as possible. Look for clear plastic & I wouldn't go smaller than 110 qt.

The minimum cage sizes are 450 Sq in for a Syrian so 20 gal long would be too small.

I use these tanks my dwarves, 3 of them anyway. The other 3 are in bin cages.

This is the sort of plastic bin we mean. You need to mesh the roof for now or at least put plenty ventilation in it as pups get smelly! Get the biggest you can

Got it. I had a tote laying around, but it's more tall than wide, so I'm going to the store today. What are thoughts on putting momma and babies in the car for a 1 hour trip? I'm going south for the weekend and want to do thier cage and transfer them tonight. So they can settle in before trip back. Momma has been pretty laid back as long as I don't reach in the cage for more than a second. Usually putting in food

I don't think a trip in a car is a good idea. I'd stay at home to ensure the transfer works out OK!

Soo. Update. Finished the bin cage. Moved nest with mommy and 5 out of six babies. Put disposable gloves on for 6th, cuz mommy wouldn't go get em. Been in the bottom of cage all day. And mommy blocked the tube as well so it couldn't get back if it wanted. Mommy is running around like crazy exploring. Babies are still eyes shut but exploring and playing. Put bread in soaked in substitute kitty milk and they were all over it. Mommy seems to not even notice the kids atm. But keeping close watch till I have to leave
