Lovely to hear Darcy's taken to motherhood.

The pups are no longer there! Something told me to go and carefully check the nest area as soon as I woke up. I knew something wasn't right in the back of my mind all along but I kept trying to convince myself that everything was just fine and that she was being a very good mother. I found it very strange that there was hardly ever any movement or noises coming from the nest! Why, Darcy, culled them is something she only knows but I suspect it was due to her age and that she couldn't cope with being a young mother. Or it might of been simply down to genetic defects.

I thought it was strange too but I've only ever had one litter so I felt I don't have enough experience to comment on the no squeaks and I've heard no squeaks means an attentive mother, I'm sorry that there's no pups but it's common for first time mums to cull the pups. I hope Darcy is healthy and well though x

That's a shame but likely for the best if mum couldn't cope or there was something wrong with the pups. Best to check her really carefully for any signs of illness now as the loss of the pups can bring on other issues like pyo, mastitis and tummy upsets.
Is she on the nest a lot? Staying in the nest when the pups have gone may mean she is unwell. Are you positive there are no pups hidden deep?

She made it look as though she was still nursing pups and only left for brief periods of time. I thoroughly checked the whole nest and I didn't come across any pups or heard anything. I'm going to keep a very close watch on her! The first sign of illness will result in being taken straight to the vets.

Darcy, wanted to personally pop on and individually thank you all for the amazing support and well wishes. She very much appreciates it! The pups were obviously too precious for this world.

I heard that too! That was my main issue because I wasn't too sure whether that was the case or not. Perhaps no squeaks doesn't necessarily mean an attentive mother in some cases after all.
