Re: All about mammy, Dar :)
LOL tell the mice to hush. Most likely Darcy is just being a good mother and the pups are very satisfied and quite.

Re: All about mammy, Dar :)
I hope everything went well for her and the pups are healthy Keep quiet for now and don't disturb her. You can start to give protein foods, as well as nuts and seeds to help with milk production Porridge and veggies are also great. Try just to give enough for mum at this point, you don't want to have veggies going mouldy in the nest with the pups.
Pups will need to start having other sources of hydration from around 5 days, so little bits of cucumber around the nest will help with that. Increase the amount of food you give at this time too because this is when they start to eat solids.

Congrats Zak and to Darcy for becoming a mum.
The pics you posted just before she gave birth are gorgeous.

Re: All about mammy, Dar :)
Thanks again for the good vibes and advice. I really appreciate it! I think something might not be right because there is no movement or noises coming from the nest area whenever she is getting something to drink, eat or having a little potter about. I expected to at least hear a little something by now. A phantom pregnancy has always been in the back of my mind but the signs she showed were that of a normal pregnancy and her stomach did feel pretty firm.
Another thing I have noticed is that, Darcy, appears to be a bit more active which is slightly concerning me because I still think it is too early of a stage to leave pups for even short amounts of time apart from a quick drink, food and toilet break. As I am typing this, she is digging among all of the food and bedding in the nest which she seems to do a few times per day while continually going back and fourth to the big mountain of hay she has created. Perhaps she is picking out the best food and has two nests on the go? Who knows!
I would like to think she is being an excellent mother and that I will more than likely not hear anything until the pups start venturing out of the nest. That's if they do!

Re: All about mammy, Dar :)
Just caught up with this thread! Congratulations and good news you've heard some squeaks (not from the mice!).
You've already got sound advice on here....am sure Darcy will be a brilliant mum and look forward to hearing about the progress.

Re: All about mammy, Dar :)
It is a very worrying time during this stage because you can't really monitor them so a lot of things go through your mind. I'm very happy you heard them and hope she's a good mum
