Default ST's Cherie x Blackout (Chocolate Carriers!)

Today Cherie's babies are at 14 days gestation. She is so huge she reminds me of a balloon. I'm not sure how many babies to expect, but I certainly wasn't expecting a large litter after two litters of 7! She appears to be bigger (at 14 days) than my largest litter's mom was at 15 days! (That was a litter of 17.)

Anyway, here she is, clearly expecting quite a few babies.

Blackout is a SH satin black who has passed his 2-year birthday. I used him because I'm working on longevity, and he is my oldest male, and is still healthy and active. This will be his second litter.

Cherie is a LH chocolate, so I am expecting (possibly) all blacks. Blackout carries cinnamon, so if Cherie also does, we could get doves. Blackout does not carry cream, so there is no chance of that in this litter. I'm thinking there isn't much chance for surprises, but we will see!

I am so excited for this litter, and getting nervous as she gets larger and larger. She doesn't seem to think much of her large size, so I'm hoping she is not uncomfortable!

The babies are due on the 5th!

You did mention 10-pup litters... I am not sure I remember anything about a 15_pup litter! I am up for it, and hopefully she is, because it sure looks like a big one. (They were only together for about 15 minutes!)

It's a good thing my meal worms are coming today.

Hello Mama2six, I am not an expert, but your dam looks Heterozygous ED Black to me.
Here is the link I found this info: Chocolate Syrian (the first pic on the right top looks similar to your dam).

She allso looks a little bit like hamster in the second photo on the right column. That one is chocolate. So you probably know the ancestors, so sorry for bothering

I am also interested in chocolate hamsters. I have read that in Europe they are chocolates, and ED is more common in US.

Yes Vidasmile she is pedigreed and came from my hamstery and is beyond any doubt Chocolate. The biggest clue is her ears are brown unlike a Homo or hetero ED Black
The Mom in my Icon picture is Cherie's Dam

And... we have 11 pups!

(Thanks Nancy. Yes, she is chocolate. But, yes, chocolate looks much like ED black.)

The pups are a week old today. Every single last one of them is black. It is so adorable to see them all. Cherie is on the nest nearly 24-7, from what I can tell. (Not that I stay up all night and watch, but every time, day or night, that I walk past, she has been on the nest.

There are still 11 babies. I can't wait to get acquainted with them!
