Default Kenzie x ST's Foma

I bred Kenzie and Foma on the same day that I bred Cherie and Blackout. Cherie and Foma were both chocolate littermates that I drove out to Nancy's in Ohio to pick up at the beginning of the year. I tried breeding both once, and neither litter took. The second time around, it happened to be the same day that both females were in heat, so it is kind of fun to have both chocolate carrier litters born on the same day.

Kenzie is a LH black tort who (unfortunately) does carry cream. She has very good type, and she is a crazy, very personable young hamster. She does not walk; she runs. She does not climb onto the side of her bin cage where the mesh is attached; she jumps. She removes every last seed from her food bowl - every single time. Any time she hears something, she climbs on to the roof of her house (which she does not use as a house) and stands up for a listen. She loves to come out and explore, and she is never still for a moment, inside or outside her cage. (True to her yellow genes!

Here she was at 14 days' gestation:

Here is ST's Foma, a SH homo polywhite chocolate. He has proven to be a nice and calm young guy. Maybe some of his mellow-ness will rub off on the babies. In fact, I kind of hope so, because I'm not sure I can handle a bin full of babies RUNNING everywhere they go.

On 3/5/16, Kenzie had 8 babies.

I am hoping for a yellow-black male who carries rust. (He WILL carry rust, it is the yellow-black part that I'm holding my breath on.) So far I can see 3 blacks, one grey looking pup (who I am holding out hope on that being a YB), and 4 very light pups. The light pups could all be cream, since I know Kenzie carries it and Foma could.

If I don't get a yellow-black male, I'll keep one of the 3 blacks. I'll also keep one of the blacks from Cherie's litter, and I have plans to breed the two of them down the road for my very first chocolate babies.

The pups are 2 weeks today. There is a definite yellow-black!! Yay!!!

What I was really popping in to say, however, is that Kenzie does run, even with a pup in her mouth! She also gave a jump each time, around the middle of her cage, without ever dropping a pup.

Silly girl.

I have (once again) lost my camera, so I don't have "official" pictures of Kenzie's litter yet. Here is a sneak peek though!

The colours look interesting! What are they? I can't tell from the pictures because they look a pale grey and white. Or are you keeping that a secret until the next pictures are uploaded? haha.

Looking forward to more pictures!

They look really pale in the photo! Is it just the lighting? Looking forward to more pictures and glad you got what you wanted!

It was a cell phone picture in natural light, no flash, which made it kind of weird. I did get my yellow black boy. I do hope he is EE, but I am afraid he will be We. Time will tell, but he is an improvement, either way.
