I have their "official" pictures. First, a picture of everyone, including Kenzie:

Attachment 36291

All of the babies are heterozygous polywhite.

1. LH Yellow-Black Male - This is my keeper. I have been attempting to breed a yellow-black for quite some time, but each time I try, I do not get one, or there ends up being cream mixed in. As it turns out, Foma also carried cream, and we ended up with 4 cream babies, but we did get the one yellow-black, finally! I am keeping him, and hoping he does not carry cream... He is quite good as far as type AND temperament go. (He was the first to be unafraid.)

2. LH Cream Female - I am considering keeping her as well, since her type is so good, and I have no cream females. (Just 2 ivories, who will be too old to breed right about the time this girl is old enough.) She is a rust carrier, and would be a great help when I pursue copper. Nancy pointed out she could be an cream tort, so I will watch when I breed her to rule that out. I want her to be cream only, no yellow genes. Isn't she a lovely little lady?

3. SH Black Male

4. LH Cream Male (Again, could potentially be ee yellow-black)

5. SH Black Male (Just LOOK at this guy! I'm loving those ears. )

6. LH (ghost yellow) Cream Male - His ears were dark by 7 days, so we know he is Ee YB. In person you can also see a little smudge on his nose, which is how I can tell him from his 2 brothers, but that didn't show up in the pictures.

7. SH Black Male (Just like he was posing for the picture! )
Attachment 36298

8. LH Cream Male (Could also be ee YB, but cream is what is visible)

Kenzie has been an excellent mom. I rather think she enjoyed the excitement of tending to her pups. I am sure she is ready for her well-deserved break by now, but physically there is no indication that this whole baby-rearing thing was hard for her. She is still full of energy and feels to be the same weight she was beforehand!

Kenzie is lovely. I really like the look of the keeper (1) and the possible keeper (2). It must be wonderful breeding hamsters, but hard to part with the babies!

Yes, it is hard to part with them, but it is part of the process. If I kept every baby, I would no longer be able to breed, because I would quickly fill up!

They are all gorgeous, I have a serious soft spot for a pretty cream with those dark eyes. I see you made the same mistake I did in putting the mesh on the outside of the bin. Some hamster figured out all they had to do to get out was chew the plastic and some never did

Yes, Erin, I did put all of my mesh on the outside at first. They did start figuring out they could chew through! Once one did, it took on a serious new mission to Escape By Hole-Chewing, but thankfully it took 2-3 days and I would catch them with a growing hole. Sigh.

Kenzie's cage was reclaimed. Thankfully they can be fixed, and now the vast majority of my bins have the mesh in the right place!!

The litter is very stunning and a good 1st for Foma. Just a heads up I was informed today that Polywhite even het polywhite can substantially lighten a coat so those really light creams could also be EeYB and be much lighter because of the Polywhite gene.

Oooh, and then that would also mean more hope for Mr. Keeper being EE! I did not know that.
