Default ST's B-16 litter due March 10th or 11th

Well I had stated on the Photos of the month thread that the gal going to have my 2nd litter of this year looked like a fluffy Tennis ball with legs

Well see for yourself

Elisa is already acting out the role of and excellent Mom. Here she is in her nest after I had cleaned the tank and stocked her up and taken a few photos LOL.

I think if looks could harm I'd be saying Ouch right now. She is now all ready for the big event which could happen late Thursday or early Friday using the time bred as a base point.

This litter will be and interesting one because I started out using a L-15 Chocolate male who tried his best to breed and did seem to get it right but after a mere 10 minutes he simply quit. He went into a corner and flopped out and slept. Since Elisa will be too old to risk breeding end of this month I decided to also mate her with a proven Male to assure a successful breeding.

The very young Chocolate male was used because it is unknown if Elisa gained the Rust gene from either of her rust carrying parents. Chepe was unrelated to her where the proven male who only carries Rust is slightly related. IF I get Yellow females I will know the sire is Lavi. I have attempted this before and each time it proved the 1st male to mate was the sire. It is claimed that two males CAN breed the same female, but so far I have never been able to prove this so. The whole purpose of this mating was to find out if Elisa carries Rust. if she doesn't any of these pups would greatly help with my Yellow lines as both males used are EE.

Wow, Elisa is gorgeous! I hope all goes well for her
I wondered if you'd be able to explain the 2 bits I highlighted in bold please?

PinkNeon(Love that name LOL )
L-15 is just a identification number I give to litters born here at ST's hamstery. The L means it was the 12th litter born and the -15 is what year that 12th litter was born in.

So the male pup used was born of the 12th litter born in 2015.

EE is the genetic code to mean the hamster with that code is Cream Free which is important when breeding quality Tort and Yellow gene hamsters.

Hope that helps you decode my post

Elisa is being as good a Mom as Chedva wasn't. Seldom coming off the nest and nursing almost around the clock. Her nest is closed but she's in a breeder tank so I can easily see her little ones through the side glass when she moves about. All seems well with everyone so far but it's a long ways from weaning time.

Elisa is a lovely hamster. I hope you get your yellow babies.

I'm trying to figure out how to get a yellow or tortoiseshell baby way over here in the Seattle area. I've yet to see one at a pet store, and there are no breeders out here. I'm looking forward to pictures of your new little ones!
