Finally some photos of the pups, and they have been very kind to you all because at just 15 days old they have eyes fully open so you get to see them 2 days earlier then is normal
This litter has been a VERY puzzling one for me as I continue learning the Rust gene and the Polywhite gene. The original Goal for the whole breeding was to Test Elisa for the Rust gene, and to Add the Band gene to my Rust lines. Mom being a Black Tort Band from two Rust carrying parents, and Dad being a very young(8 weeks old) Chocolate SHOULD have gave me a whole litter of Black gene pups and if Elisa carried for Rust I should have gotten Chocolates.
Elisa has so little Yellowblack patches on her it was really hard to determine if she was Cream(ee) free or a carrier. Her Dam was confirmed a cream carrier in Elisa's litter mates having obvious Cream carrying siblings. Chepe(Pronounced Shefah) the Sire was by a Cream free Yellow carrying Rust and Black, and his Dam was an obvious Cream Carrying Black Tort who had a Chocolate Dam who produced a whole litter of BEC pups when bred to a Satin LH BEC Banded male. So Chepe had a very good chance of being a Cream carrier. through his Dam. The litter proves beyond doubt both parents carry cream, and also shows beyond doubt Elisa also carries Rust.
Here they are at 15 days old in all their glory
I knew Dad was Hetero Polywhite, but because of her band it was impossible to know if Elisa was also(her Sire, and Dam were Hetero so only had one gene for it) The only Female in the litter confirms both are Polywhite as she is a Pale ear Cream(Known as a Caramel) Banded Homo Polywhite. The Polywhite gene when added to any Cream based color gives the same effect that the White Belly does on Cream based colors which produces a Roan hamster. In Polywhite gene it doesn't produce Eyeless whites if bred together, and if it was on a sable coloring would have a deeper sable color with a more over all the body roaning look. Because she is Pale ear Cream you can't see her roaned out rump in the photos but instead it just looks like she has a fully colored head and an all white back, to the tail. She is Brown eyed with the Red glow of the Polywhite gene, with natural sun light her eyes show up red. However by Pedigree Elisa and Chepe have no cinnamon gene so these red eyes are strictly from light reflecting off her brown eyes.
One male pup is like his Sister minus the Polywhite gene and the Band gene. He shows no signs of any ticking at this age but I will be watching to be sure he is a Caramel and not a Ghost Yellow Chocolate.
The last pup is Brown eared, and Brown Eyed and has obvious chocolate ticking coming in and is my tentative keeper. He is a Ee(cream carrier) Yellow Chocolate. He is also the biggest in the litter. Though I am trying my best to breed the cream out I have need of a rust male to use to my cream free Chocolate Tort, and Rust carrying Tort females. so I will just have to continue with getting the cream out in the next generation to him.
He may end up cream free Chocolate Yellow if the lighter male starts gaining ticking. He doesn't appear to be Polywhite as he has no white on his belly at all. At this time it is hard to say if any are LH.
So over all this is what the breeding of this litter proved.
Elisa is Ee(cream carrier), is hetrozygous for the Polywhite gene, AND does for sure carry the rust gene. Is and Excellent Mother. She stayed on the pups 24 straight hours after their birth, and suckled them almost around the clock the first week. She will be rebred after a nice rest and then will be placed in a nice pet home after that.
Chepe proved beyond any doubt that and 8 week old Syrian male is quite able to mate and produce pups. For those curious why I used such a young male, This is not my normal procedure but I had to have a Chocolate male to confirm 100% if Elisa carried for Rust, and she was approaching that danger zone age for delivering safely for a first litter(she was 8 months old when pups were 9 days old). Chepe is a bigger sized male so the mating was done. The litter confirmed he carries for cream, and it will be a bit before I can say if he carries for Longhair or not.
This litter can be pedigree traced back to ST's Shiloh, and ST's Darissa who are the Sire and Dam of Hekomis foundation Litter through SBH Amaretto. Five generations back. Though not exciting for the task of Breeding out the Cream Gene in my Yellows this litter is very exciting as a next generation with my Rust lines.
