Well I am once again reminded to not count chickens before there is proof. I had thought Chepe was EE but by what is in the nest he has to be Ee. I know from past mating with Lavi that he has been proven by test breeding to be EE.

It is becoming more and more obvious I have ALL BEC pups in the nest. Still to young to see bands or not and only in time will I know if they are Black eared or pale eared BEC.

However this litter once again proved the first male bred is the sire. I tried this many years ago using one banded and one Ds sire so it would be very obvious which was the sire by Pattern, and when the banded male bred first and the Ds second I got all banded pattern pups, using another solid color female I flip flopped the order of males and ended up with only Dominant Spot pattern. So I am pretty much convinced that the statement of you can use two males to one female is folk lore unless I see undeniable proof it is not.

Mom and pups are doing great, growing nicely. This litter also solved the on going debate of is mom EE or Ee as with so few and small Tort patches as well as LH you really couldn't say as one day she would look EE and you could see lots of ticking on her Yellowblack patches and then a day or so later you could barely see any ticking.

The only way to sound dumb is to never ask and stay uninformed Calebsmom

Yes BEC stands for exactly what GreySyrian said a Black Eyed Cream, and since Cream is not desired out of a Yellow or Tort hamster it is double disappointing in the nest of a Black Tort band. When breeding to remove the cream from a yellow/Tort line this litter will most likely all end up lovable pets for 3 lucky people when weaned(Unless they keep pale ears as that will indicate they are black eyed Cream rust which I would be able to still use to my non yellow rust hamsters).

Well these three Hamsketeers are becoming quite and interesting puzzle. By the fact they are in a glass bottom tank I could actually see and watch as the pups suckled and know I have 2 girls and 1 boy. There are 3 completely different shades of Color in the nest of which I have a hunch I will see my first Yellow Chocolate, and the others are either two different shades of BEC or one is a Caramel(BEC + Rust). The male is like a Butterscotch pudding color. This mating was in hopes of getting a Band pattern on a Rust color combo but alas all three are solid. Adding the Band pattern to the Chocolates should have been a very easy goal but is proving to be a bugger LOL. Mom is being and outstanding Mom and pups are both rolly polly pudgey tummied and quite big for their age.
