Default Cadance x ST's Avisha... Extreme Dilute Carriers!!!

Well, I got tired out and stopped working early for the day. And now that I have the time, I can't resist posting pictures!

They are 19 days old today.

Cadance is a Cinnamon tort banded. (who carries black) You will see her in the pictures. She is a large, friendly hamster (for a yellow!) with lovely type.

ST's Avisha is an extreme dilute... extreme dilute WHAT is the question. It was mostly suspected that he was an ED honeyblack. Here he is, in all his cuteness:

Avisha.jpg

If Avisha is homozygous extreme dilute, as suspected, all of the babies are carriers. This is my first ED litter, and I was kind of surprised by the "grey". If you have had experience with ED's, especially cinnamon ED carriers, please let me know what you think!

Here they are, just waking up.

Here are all of them from the top view:

Here is Cadance with 3 of the pups:

And here is Cadance with the "greyest" pup. Each pup has a grey patch on his or her head, some of them strikingly obvious, and some less obvious unless you're looking at the right angle. The grey spot is grey from tip to root, no orange mixed in.

I suspect that each baby is honey, as there is no blueish-grey undercoat. It could also be that the ED is messing that up... (I honestly don't know... ideas?)

If they are all honey, that confirms the yellow for Avisha, but he probably is not black. (Since none are black or honeyblack)

Let me know what you think! I'm very curious about the grey patches.

Here are two of the "greyer" pups.

Here are two of the "orangest" pups, but they do have the grey on their heads, it is just not as obvious.

Here is the pup who appears to be the best type of the bunch.

And, just for some silliness, here they are, "on the prowl", trying to figure out what is going on.

What a beautiful bunch of mini pumpkins! Really stunning. I have zero knowledge of colours but the grey in with that lovely orangey cinnamon is wonderful

And you didn't mention that one that looks kind of Dove Tort is a male LOL. This litter kind of has even myself stumped Avisha is such and amazing marked hamster having a pink tone to his off white body and very very deep rich Orange colored ears and nose. Will take some sleuthing to figure him out by the looks of things. I had two very well skilled ED breeders look at Avisha when I first got him and both took very little time to say to them both he looked Homo ED Honeyblack, but either he is not Honeyblack or the odds were highly beat with Cadence for sure carrying Black through her Dove sire.

Here's two pics of him when he first arrived here.

I took their 3-week photos today, but my camera is acting up. Most of the pictures came out fuzzy.

Here is my keeper boy though!

1 LH Male Honey - KEEPER.jpg

He is a LH Honey. I am surprised that my best-type hamster in the whole bunch also happens to be long-haired (I had no idea when I started thinking about keeping him instead of the hoped-for excellent-type female) AND he also happens to be the only honey out of all 4 males!

Here is a picture of the whole crew (well, almost) in natural light only...

24 days natural light headpatches.jpg

I'm still looking for opinions on why they all (Even Mr. Honey) have grey heads. On Mr. Honey, who has orange fur to the roots everywhere else, the small patch on his head is grey, tip to root. On the cinnamons, the patch of fur on their heads is orange, tip to root, but the rest of their fur is orange at the tips with a grey undercoat.

The pups are as follows:

1. M LH Honey
2. M SH Cinnamon
3. M SH Cinnamon
4. M SH Cinnamon Banded
5. F Cinnamon Banded OR Cinnamon Banded Tort
6. F Cinnamon Banded OR Cinnamon Banded Tort
7. F Cinnamon Banded OR Cinnamon Banded Tort

I am not sure yet if any of the females are LH or if they are all SH, and I don't plan on combing through every hair to figure out who is tort and who is not. They don't really like that kind of attention.

I'd say they are all cinnamons or cinnie torts - The Honey boy shouldn't have any grey undercoat anywhere. Maybe it is shadowing as the fur is shorter on the head?

Every baby in this litter has a grey cap... I am fairly sure honey boy is honey, and the caps are due to (probably) the ED. I wish someone who knew more about ED's would chime in and help solve this mystery! Cinnamon tort mom x cinnamon ED male, and honey is a likely outcome. His coat is completely orange, from tip to root unlike any of the others. (Who are all cinnamon.)
