Apple's surprise :)
Apple is a Chinese hamster that I brought her home on the 3rd January. I knew that there was a possibility that she might be pregnant so I kept her on pregnancy watch.
I thought she gave birth on the 7th but after over two weeks when there was not a sign or squeak of any babies and I became convinced that she had either killed them or that she hadn't been pregnant at all. I think I made the mistake of giving her too much substrate which meant I wasn't exactly sure where her nest was.
On the 23rd I got her out of the cage for the first time and while I was holding her I could hear someone scrabbling from inside the cage. Then a pup ventured out with its eyes open, it gave me such a shock! She was certainly very secretive 
I not sure how many there are yet but expect pictures soon

Wow Truffle, what a surprise for you. But a welcome one I assume?? She must be a very good mum to have looked after the litter so well.

well this is quite a story lol but guess you knew from the start good luck with the little pups hope they arn't a handful but cant wait to see photos

Thank you everyone! I am actually now quite excited I have don't have any pictures as yet though I have heard speaking for the first time and had a glimpse of another baby.

Oh wow, that is a surprise.....and a very protective mum too.
Aww bet you are excited and am sure you are prepared.

Thanks Bec! I think I've got everything sorted. The pups will be three weeks tomorrow so their eyes are actually already open. I just need a camera with me while there out and about
Two pups came out playing with mum last night. It was such a sweet sight! Their almost half her size already.
