Question Breeding Full Brother to Sister?

Hi, I wanted to know what everyone thinks about breeding full brother and sister together? Im just getting back into the hooby and will be getting 3 Syrian Hamsters after christmas! I dont want to go to a petstore! and there are really not that many breeders out there i can talk to around here!

All three hamsters im getting are full brother and sisters! (1 brother 2 sisters)
Their parents are:
Mother: Black Tortiseshell Banded
Father: Solid Cinnamon (Umbrous?)
all three babies are Golden Banded!

I asked this breeder on facebook and she said go for it, but if i could recall, Isn't it bad to breed full siblings together? Have anyone on here done this before? If i was to do it what colors are possible?

You need to do a lot more research. I already answered another post where I advised against this. You should know never to breed two patterns together in case they are carrying the white belly gene as you may get eyeless white if they are.
Please do a lot more research before even considering breeding.

I have a few years on me about breeding, but i was very young and still learning! I did my research about breeding two banded patterns together and it never said not to or they will get eyeless whites! everything just said the whole litter will just come out all banded!

SCFC sadly like you have said its been a long time since you have bred hamsters. There have been numerous discoveries in breeding since then and many many things have changed.
Siblings should never be bred together for a start and although I do not know much about the breeding of Syrians I too am aware of the danger of breeding patterned Syrians together. There is always going to be the risk of two white bellied genes coming together when breeding patterns and like Souffle has said that results in eyeless whites.
You can also never be sure breeding two bandeds would ever result in a full banded litter, when it comes down the the possibilities of their ressesive genes you could end up with anything!

I would take Souffle's advice and re-research everything on Syrian breeding before you start. Im sure you will be surprised by how different the research you find is nowerdays

Just breeding brother to sister for no real reason then i would say no.

But if you had a new/rare colour/pattern ect that you wanted to work with then yes in theory

Although that does look very black and white its not ment as such.
I dont think anyone should attempt to in-breed or line-breed any animal unless they know what they are doing and i mean really know, been doing it for years and know there lines, health and genetics and are doing it for a valid reason.

I wouldnt do it. I wouldnt start with three related, i would start with a pair of unrelated hamsters if you are set on breeding.

I understand, Im not sure who i can go to and find something that is not related! i dont want to go to a petstore because i dont know the history or background of the hamster(s) If i was to still go cause it looks like my only choice right now, what color should i look for? I want to try and bring out the tortiseshell gene, cause that is the color i want to focus on!

If you can't get a hamster from a breeder then don't breed - simple as that.

Agree with what the others have said - you need to do some research as things have changed dramatically.

I got three related in hope to find a color to try and bring out the tortiseshell. I do know what im breeding for!! Im not doing it just to do it, that don't role with me! Im not one of those people just breeding for a reason, im breeding for a purpose! Trust i know alot and what to do to a certain point. I ask this question because when i did have them, i had no clue what i was doing, yes i do admit that part and i was breeding father-daughter, mother-son, and sister-brother. And now that im older i just wanted to ask someone who has been at this longer than me! When i did breed brother-sister, yes i was scared because i had one baby come out a color i never seen before and i did thought it was blind but as it got older i learned it was a ruby eyed cream lol.

not to sound rude or anything but if i find one or not, im breeding no matter what! and if it do come down to me getting one from a petstore then hey, i got to deal with it!

I have been doing research and everywhere i go it says the same thing i already know, if yall can provide information that would be great!

A question i just have to ask, do you think, that by we are all in different parts of the world have to do with some of the mutations that are poping up? I see that there are alot of breeders over seas on here than it is on this side? Could that be a problem?

That's not really the right attitude to have when your dealing with living creatures. Their not a commodity.
