You can't improve hamsters in your area if you're using the same stock as the current provider,
People feel strongly on this topic, especially those of us who have had hamsters who were badly bred, and had to watch them struggle every day of their lives.

You need to realise that you're playing god with these hamsters, you bring them into the world and you're responsible for the lives they lead once they're in the world.

Ok i understand everyone! I do! but all the name calling is not what i camed here to hear! If i can get in contact with this other breeder then i will see what i can get from her!
But like all these different names im getting is really not called for! What i was saying may not been good enough for what yall expected, but yes, i am still young, so instead of calling me lazy and all the other stuff, i think telling everything in a nice way would be better. and saying "There's really no getting through to you is there" is just like you are calling me stupid!

I'm not getting into this, just FYI, because if I start I won't stop and you DO NOT want to know what I have to say to this.

There are breeders in your area, I know there is a hamstery in Missouri called Sweet Cheeks Hamstery. I don't know much about them but they are better then a pet store IMO. It's a little ways for you but if you aren't willing to travel that for GOOD hamsters than do not breed...just don't.

People are only trying to help and they are being harsher as they were only advising you, but you replied in a manner that made it seem as though you did not care about the hamsters.

Do you know where your out of state breeder gets her stock from? she could get you some, breeders (in the UK at least) tend to help each other out, especially if they know they're trying to get it done properly

Roxie wasn't calling you stupid! Being ignorant and being stupid are two different things. -.- The way you're acting is being ignorant of the hamsters, and whatever babies you end up with, and the what's best for them.

That sounds like a good idea , it's also best to not breed around christmas in case they get bought as impromptu christmas presents, so win-win.

I hope you don't think people on here are aggressive, it's purely for the good of the species. There was a woman on here not long ago, and her daughter let their hamsters out of their balls at the same time and they mated, every hamster in the litter died, and it was horrible and tragic, and horrible for the woman who had to watch them die. Both hamsters were banded, and from a pet shop - and I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

I wish you luck on finding hamsters, other breeders should help you with knowing what colours/patterns are compatible with yours too

My Syrian Kaiji is most likely a baby from a brother-sister mating. I got him from a nearby rescue (the same rescue I got my foster baby Vanilla, from although she is no longer a foster but a permenant ) anyway I think the mother and father were very young themselves and not split from each other in time and then the mother became pregnant. I must say Kaiji is very nervous, very antisocial, and he sometimes bites and does things for no reason. This is the case even though he was handled from a young age by the rescue. I think it may have been as a result of bad breeding and I wouldn't recommend breeding brother and sister and I certainly would never breed from kaiji himself...would be scared of passing his temperament on. You wouldn't condone a human brother and sister mating so why would you think it was okay for hamsters? The reason there are laws against it is the genetic factors, nothing else (even though moat people feel sickened by the idea) its not the emotional side that the law was created for or even the sex, it's the reproduction and to prevent the creation of genetic abnormalities in their offspring.

Then just wait till Feb. I have to wait till April for my first litter as I'm waiting for my breeding female to be a suitable size and age but that's not a bad thing. Just so you know. You'll have a hard time getting a female pregnant in winter anyway. -.- Research would tell you this.
