Female Syrian hamster in heat

Okay so my female syrian hamster is in heat, and i am wanting to breed her with my male syrian but he just doesnt seem intrested, she is laying on her belly with her tail in the air and he is just running around not bothering to even go and take a sniff...can someone please help me out as to why this is.

he seems intrested now he was up sniffing her butt, but then he moved away and doesnt seem to be doing anything just licking himself

okay thanks, they may have mated earlier when i wasnt looking because both of them just droppedd down and went to sleep for a while lol

ahh they finally mated but the female was kinda running away, maybe because its both of their first time?

The washing is part of the mating process, he'll wash himself, wash her, mount, dismount, then start over.

When did you mate them? As late in the evening, the better.

Also, it sounds like you left them alone unsupervised? If you did, it's really not a good idea because fighting could occure when you're not looking.

No, I did not leave them unsupervised, my sister was looking after them but then she went home when i came back and i had no way of asking her if they mated

Out of interest have you checked they are a compatable mating? what colours are they etc and what do you hope to acheive from the breeding.
You must treat her as if she is pregant now and the babies would be due on 14th December. These pups will be due to be homed around beginning of February. Start gathering cages and looking for potential homes now I'd say.
I hope all goes well and that you have funds etc in place to cover any vet bills and the extras it takes to raise a litter properly.

I already have 9 potential homes for the pups, i would not start breeding if i did not have homes, and i have the funds available for vet bills and everything else i may need, and the hamsters are both diffrent colors one is brown (male) the female is white with cream flecks around her body
