Default Piper X Nike - Campbells Dwarves

Breeding Date: Evening of November 5
Due Date: November 24-27

I was going to wait until babies were born to make a post because of Chloe's past.. but this is Piper and she is definitely pregnant judging by the golfball in her belly
Piper is a self black and she was bred to Nike, a self chocolate. They bred the first night they were together so I've gone ahead and separated them and neither are distraught :P
I am looking forward to this litter. Both parents have fabulous personalities and the father, Nike, has incredible type.
I am a bit worried about Piper. She's only 9/10 days along and has ballooned to the size of many of my past full term females. I will be keeping a very very close eye on her. I have also been providing extra sources of protein and fat daily. The only odd thing is despite her size, her nipples are not becoming prominent. Should I be worried that she has a pyometra not babies? No discharge and she is still eating and active.. I guess I'm just paranoid that she is so big so soon.
I am expecting all black selfs from this litter and all babies will carry chocolate. I will be keeping one or two daughters to breed back to the father for chocolate selfs and a friend will be taking one or two daughters to breed to the chocolate mottled male she has from me (I've recently downsized my hamster numbers).

Please keep your fingers crossed for us, I am very nervous. Either this litter is huge in number or the pups are huge..

Here are mom and dad:

And here is mom today. Sorry for the blurry picture I didn't want to stress her so just picked up her front half and snapped a quick picture.

Thank you!
Even though they will all be selfs, mom and dad are both freckle-faced and I am hoping for some freckle-faced kiddos! They are the only two hamsters I've had with teeny spots on their faces :P

You should try breeding for the type of Mottling your chocolate boys with similar markings to Koda have its not very common and its SO lovely. It may be gender linked you said yours are male and so are both of mine.

But this litter will be lovely cant wait to see them

Mottling as a trait is random but most mottled pups favor a mottled parent. I don't have either chocolate mottled male anymore though one went to the close friend who is taking a girl from this litter.
It is not sex linked, just coincidence

Twelve days along now. Not a significant change is size, but when she's walking around I can see her mid section has expanded horizontally. She is still quite large for her point in gestation so I will be doing a full cage cleaning on Tuesday to give her a couple days to settle in. I suspect she'll struggle to move around by the time her due date approaches, bless her.
This is very likely to be her only litter, especially if it turns out to be a large one.
