Yes, ours do chatter. They will sometimes do it as a warning when they don't want to be touched or picked up so always take care. Occasionally they will do it with pleasure, and we even had one who would chatter and drool with pleasure when you took him out.

some do, some don't with me. As PH said it can be a sign of alarm or fear so be careful if your hamsters teeth chatter that you aren't in some way alarming her. Other hamsters seem to chatter in their sleep, or while cleaning themselves.
