Nothing is working
We got her chew sticks, snacks.. she has a bin cage, a wire cage and her habitrail ovo.. she hates all of it. she only wants to live in her ball and run around the house all day. she also hates her hamtrac that i bought her.
She's chewing everything except her ball. bitter apple doesn't work. we don't know what to do. I cannot keep her out all day every day.
My family gave me gift cards to get me a habitrail ovo loft... but I don't know she hates everything else, not sure if i want to waste that money.
She is extreemly sweet but hates being in a cage. we don't know what to do now.
she also loves her wheel in her old tiny starter cage.. but there's no way to hook it up to the ovo or i would attach it.

Re: Nothing is working
She is just a youngster gina and full of the joys of life. You need to be more strict with her and not let her out everytime she chews and goes hyper as she is training you to let her out.
Remember she is not a small person in a skin but a hamster who does not have human emotions but instead has hamster instincts which are to forage, chew (she's a rodent) investigate, protect herself and to find a mate!
She will settle given time. Try and give her more natural things to do like burying her food in the cage so she has to seek it out, allow more free running say on the bed or in the hall so she can sniff etc rather than in the ball. You may have to put up with some bar chewing if she will not stop it or try and get one of the balls on a stand type wheels that can go in the cage.
I don't think any hams enjoy using the hamtrac to be honest. It is hard to work and boring for them as I've said before.
Be strict from now and allow only a certain time of out time and you must learn to ignore her antics at other times.

Awwww don't despair hun! Sounds like she's just used to getting her way. Ooh if i chew, chew, chew mummy will get me out! Have you tried her with a Wodent Wheel? They seem to work really well as a distraction. Jesse is very active and spends hours on hers. Stick at it and I'm sure she'll start to calm down

How about something like an egg box in the cage? Spud loves his egg box as he likes hiding in it but it also doubles up as a hiding place for treats and a chewtoy. I quite often hide treats in there and sometimes put some food in there for him to find.

Re: Nothing is working
have you tried using citrus fruits? Hamsters don't tend to like them and it might act as a small deturrent.
However what everyone else is saying is true eventually she'll get into a routine with you and things will settle down.
