Default Hormones and "Itchiness"

I noticed my female hamster Brownie itching madly, throwing herself onto the ground and against the bars and rolling, like she was trying to scratch a sudden itch. I didn't post about it because it stopped and didn't happen again until last night. Unfortunately I didn't record when the last incident happened but it was probably 2 or 3 weeks ago.

I did a search on here to try to determine what could be causing this itching and came up with it possibly being scent marking behaviour. I checked her skin and she looked fine in every way and didn't struggle or itch when I had her in hand. She's her normal, curious self when I handle her and I should think she'd be frantic if it was an itch. How often do females come in to heat and is it really normal that she looks so crazed about the scent marking (if that's what it is)? And is there anything I can do for her if she's in discomfort at these times?

Midol?

Mo does this too - I have put it down to hormones as it comes and goes with her heat cycle. I noticed that she is always throwing herself round on the night before she is due to be on heat. It must make them crazed wild females!!

Yep Jesse does the same so I had put it down to hormones! Glad I don't feel the urge to do that every month, would look a bit strange rolling round on the office floor

I am so glad I'd finished my coffee before I read your post! It's getting dangerous to drink and surf with this forum
