Unhappy In the end I have to separate my ww girls :(

In the end we decided to separate the girls. Make us so sad and won't be able to see them cuddling together again Been several days we heard lots of loud squeaking and fighting squeaking. No blood or any scar thou. Mcnulty always be the dominant one since the beginning, but never actually bite or scratch Bubbles.

But recently Bubbles seem quite sad and grumpy and squeaking more, also sometimes making the clicking sound (which I heard hamster makes clicking sound when they really upset). They still sleep together or side by side (oddly)
Mcnulty like to annoy Bubbles a lot, go where Bubbles is or sleep next to her. But also Mcnulty so selfish and dominant, suddenly no reason just attack Bubbles (well more to squeeze and step on her). They been fighting but never be any blood. Today when they fought I use my hand to separate them and I got bitten a bit (not hurt).

So I hold them one hand each they bring them together and Bubbles just squeak. So I put Mcnulty in other cage, when I hold Bubbles close to the cage and when Mcnulty sniff her, Bubbles give a loud squeak and move backward even on my hand.

After that we think probably better to separate them and hope Bubbles will be happier.
I just hope we made a right decision by separating them, quite sad though.

After we separate them, they seem confused with the new setup. Is it possible to reintroduce them again one day and live together again?

Oh, one more thing. After they move to their own cage, they scratch their tube and try to bite it, which never happen before. I don't know why they do that.

it was probably for the best to separate them...its sad but cant be helped. i dont think re-introducing them after a while is a good idea. once they have been separated they should stay separated. thy just have to get used to their new cages but they will be living happily on their own

I read here on the forum that fighting hamsters often do sleep together, because they cant resist the warmth another hamster gives them... you did good, they will both be happier now

I was thinking, did they actually fighting? I always check on them every day and never found any blood stain or any injury from the fighting.
That's why even we heard lots of squeaking and squabbling we don't really want to separate them, since I read that 2 dwarf girls can live together until the end.

It sound slike you did make the right desicion and seperated before any incidents could happen.
They sound to be really fighting, not just play fighting and showing dominance.
They are probably still a little stressed and will take a few days to calm down, it'll be a good idea to throughly wash your hands inbetween handling as they won't like each others smell!

I think that you have done the right thing Fofinha, they will take a week or two to get used to their new cages and to being on their own, but I think that you will find that they are much happier this way.

They can live together sometimes, but fighting and having to speperate is quite common unfortunately.

Btw, after this can they still play together outside the cage. I mean can we play with with both of them together? like we always do.

On the bright side at least you know they are gonna be safe when I separated sherbert and shirley it was sad for me but now I can actally handle shirley and she isn't as agressive as she used to be so feel good in the fact that you've done the right thing and done it before something nasty happened.
