Default Re: In the end I have to separate my ww girls :(

I echo what others have said, it sounds like you have done the right thing. I feel that if in doubt seperate, better that than the worst happening.

Wjen I seperated mine, Jam did seem lonely for a few days, which as he was the one being attacked was a little odd. He used to sit in his sandpit and squeek then look about. he has thrived in the year he's been seperated though, and The Cloud I think actually prefers being on his own too.

Mine would sleep together still even when things got to their worst.

I totally agree about the handwashing, if one of mine catched the scent of the other then that's it, teeth in flesh ouch!!! Playing together isn't likely either, and I imagine the longer they spend apart the less they will want anything to do with another hamster.

Mine are proof though that dwarves can live very happy lives on their own. I make sure they have a lot to do in their cages, and that they come out every night so they have interaction and a chance of scene. They seem v ery happy, and most importatly jam is still alive!!

I guess so. My husband also said now we won't keep feel worry whenever we heard loud squeaking and squabbling at night anymore. We always rush out from the bed to check on the girls. We already prepare if something like this happening, that's why we have 2 cages connected. Well not anymore now.

Yeah, I should think I do the right thing by separating them and will make them happier.
Btw Mcnulty coat getting darker again now. She has grey stripe near both front feet now. Last month she still quite white.
