not bar chewing - but chewing his plastic cage
So Sid lives in a duna multy, and as those of you who have one of these will know, there are plastic ridges (if thats how you would describe it) on the inside. Within the last few days he has taken to chewing these parts (they are the only part where his teeth can get a grip I think). He already has a big choice of things to chew on including wood, cardboard, and those papery pencil shaped toys, so I'm assuming he isn't doing it because he has no other way to keep his teeth trimmed, and he has lots of things to play with which are rotated on a regular basis to stop him getting bored of having the same toys day after day.
So I was just wondering if anybody had any ideas on ways to discourage him (at the moment I have done my best to block it off but he can still reach them with a bit of effort). I would prefer him not to chew it obviously, It's not the safest room for him to escape into if he manages to make a hole.

Re: not bar chewing - but chewing his plastic cage
Yes severe plastic chewing can be a problem as it's not a Safe thing to chew! You could try taping cardboard or something to stop him?
Unfortunately some plastic chewers never learn and a different cage may be needed, but sid is Probably just very tempted ATM
I would just make Sure he gets lots of playtime and maybe a dog biscuit to chew. Keep an eye on how much he chews and the damage

Re: not bar chewing - but chewing his plastic cage
They're little beggars when they set their mind to it! Jesse has chewed through the plastic around the water bottle hole of her Multy. Right through! I couldn't believe it! She seems to have gone off the idea a bit at the moment so I'm hoping it was a fad!

Re: not bar chewing - but chewing his plastic cage
Hey! Gizmo did this, started on the water bottle then on to the clips at either end... i tried all kinds of deterents but she just kept escaping and unfortunaly got obsessed with plastic chewing.. in the end my other half brought back half a landrover panel, disinfected it, smoothed it down and that had to be strapped over the clips and bottle hole... its a pain to clean her but thankfully she has now given up on the plastic chewing...

A glass tank would be best if you do decide to change his cage, I have just put a few bargain ones in the bargain cage thread - assuming you are in the uk somewhere!?
Good luck anyway! I hope that he grows out of it and it doesnt come to a cage change
