Destructo Ham!

So while Jesse was away for the weekend at a friend's house, she decided to start chewing round the hole where the water bottle was (the bottle has been removed and replaced by a bowl as she was constantly attacking the spout and as a result gulping too much water).

She's completely gone through the plastic of her new cage round the edges of the bottle hole! I can't believe how destructive she's been in a couple of days! I blocked the hole with one of the Trixie climbing frames she has and when I looked in this morning, she has totally stripped the bark from the wood obviously trying to get behind it to the hole! Its not like she's bored as she gets loads of attention, ball time, out of cage time and has lots to do in her cage.

Any ideas?

Hmmmm she may be doing it for attenton... Do you take her out when she destructs stuff? Or you could just put in chew toys for her?!

Other than that I don't know sorry

God knows Wofunny! She did it while she was in a strange environment so maybe it was attention seeking as I wasn't there! She's turning into a complete hooligan or maybe she's just a terrible teen at 4 months

They are determined little buggers - once they get an idea in their head they do their best to make it happen!! Mo can be quite aggressive with things that get in her way..outside the cage she'll attack the draft excluder like mad if its lying accross the door she wants to get out of!

They sure can Shazzy! And they're so strong too! She just loves being out so maybe she's just making a stand for hammy freedom! I'm hoping she'll calm down a bit as she gets older! Living in hope!

When I bought Mo, she was frantically tearing down the poster at the back of her tank in PAH and tearing it to shreds...so I knew I was buying a nutter! Now a year and a half later she is still a nutjob - although she goes through a cycle of moods, one night she'll just wanna sit in a corner and clean herself, another she'll be cheeky and hyper and attacking everything (corners, curtains, cushions, draft excluders), then another night she'll be scared of everything and creep along the floor hiding at every oppurtunity..weirdo. But yeah, they do calm down a little but once a nutter always a nutter!! hehe

Ha ha! I love the sound of Mo! What a character!

Well I have a gay cat and two completely smitten loved up house bunnies so I guess I couldn't have a "normal" hamster now could I! For all her annoying habits, she makes up for them with the super cute things she does! Guess she'll get what she wants and be out of the cage even more then!

Yep, I'm afraid so Wofunny! He's pretty enough to be a girl! His boyfriend Rooney lives next door and they go everywhere together. Its really quite sweet
