Re: Destructo Ham!
Errrrrr, it might have something to do with her being at my house for the weekend and getting to know my mad bunch! And seeing as they are all boys, she was probably just trying to show off! Love her to bits thought, Mwah x

Re: Destructo Ham!
I'm holding you totally responsible DawnM69! What on earth did you do to her! You could be right about the boys tho, the little hussey!
You are soooo lucky FM! Maybe you could start some hammy behaviour classes as you've obviously got the gift and it sounds like there are quite a few little devils about!

Have even tried some anti-chew spray around the hole after removing the water bottle, and if anything it seems to make her more determined!
I think a change of cage is in order after payday, although a tricky choice with 3 cats in the house..

I know the feeling, i have 4 cats who make it their aim of the day to get in to the hamster room! cheeky things!

Re: Destructo Ham!
I've got a balance of both in my house -> Spud the escape artist and also the hamster with a huuuuuge attitude. In the other corner, there is Darwin who is as sweet as pie

Re: Destructo Ham!
Naughty Cookie! Caught on camera!!
I had a total re-think (again) last night. I cleaned Jesse out for the second night on the trot (seeing as there was half a shredded Trixie house in her cage where she had tried to get to the hole behind it) and I reintroduced the Sippy bottle which isn't quite so easy to gnaw on. She was very wary at first and I'm still not convinced she knows how to drink out of it, but it seems to have at least taken her mind off the hole!
Will just have to monitor the little beggar!

Re: Destructo Ham!
Since Changing to the glass tank I am free of the noise problem. but fashioning a roof was tricky, and she has escaped once!! I found her with in minutes luckily.
I can highly recommend, to competent craftsman making a tank from an old fishtank, but you need to make sure you have air holes, PLENTY of them and a strong roof that the either can't reach or open. Syrians are VERY strong I have discovered!.

Re: Destructo Ham!
It's amazing how strong rodents are, I discovered this when I kept gerbils. If they're in a tank the roof needs to be high
