Default Aggressive hamster please help

As some of you may know I got 2 winter white hamster last year around November. As I was housing them separately everything was fine until a few weeks ago when the one of the two which was more gentle and comfortable around me started biting me. I thought maybe it was because she’s nervous or just tired but then I’ve noticed how she’ll literally run up to my hand and try to bite me when I’m putting her food in and and just generally moving things in the cage. It’s been going on for week and I’m getting generally scared of her. The other one that used to be nibby because she was scared is completely fine which is why I don’t understand why they’ve switched personality’s!

Have you changed anything in her cage like changed her set up? It sounds like she's territorial and sees your hand as an intruder. Some hamsters don't like it when we touch their things and hate it when we move anything around.

I brushed some sand off a platform with a pastry brush the other day and dwarf Clarissa came flying over and attacked the brush. She's feisty but not aggressive until she encountered the pastry brush inside her cage.

Any spot cleaning, wheel cleaning etc i do when she's out of her cage. I even tend to put food and fresh water in when she's free roaming because she climbs on my hand and hangs off my sleeve when my hands are inside her cage trying to stop my hands from doing whatever they're doing.

You could spend some time with your "aggressive" dwarf outside her cage in a neutral environment and may well find that she's more her old self.

No her setup is exactly the same ever since she started running up to my hand. I take her out offend using a cup and put her in a play pen put she still either tries to escape or bite me.

Oh i see. Then it's nothing to do with her environment.

Maybe you could try and leave her alone for a while and see if that helps? Not all hamsters want out of cage time and none of ours ever liked a playpen. Freeroaming in the hall with the doors closed, a blanket and toys on the floor is something they enjoy, the ones that like to come out. I only take them out of their cage when they want and ask to come out. The ones that don't, i leave to do their own thing.

Have you done a health check to see if there's anything bothering her physically? You could wear gardening gloves and swaddle her in a towel to check her teeth, nails, underside etc

Maybe someone more experienced than me will come up with ideas because i really don't know why she has changed her behavior towards you like that.

You would have done routine checks like water bottle and wheel working ok, washed your hands so they don't smell of food etc

Sorry, i can't be more helpful.
