Default Syrian or winter white?

Not sure if this belongs on this topic, please tell me if it doesn't.

I have a winter white hamster in a 1100 sq" cage, and I have recently finished my second cage, slightly smaller at 1050 sq". I built the cage for another hamster and I would like to know the differences between a syrian and a winter white.

Thank you!

Default Re: Syrian or winter white?

I haven't owned a winter white, but some things about syrians:

- A lot of the time (not always) females are more active than males
- There's short-haired and long-haired types
- Biggest domestic hamster species
- They need a bigger cage than dwarf species
- I think a lot of people find them calmer and easier to tame than dwarf species

Dwarf and syrian hamsters also have different dietary needs, there my be a thread about that somewhere.

This thread would probably fit better in the housing section, the syrian section, or winter white dwarf section.
