Hamster behaviour change.

Hi. Not sure if this is normal or not. I have had hamster before but a very long time ago. I have had my hamster for around 3-4 months now. He has developed a strange behaviour. He keeps tilting his water bottle before drinking. He uses his teeth to move the bottle. I have watched him and he is definitely not bitting the spout. Then drinks from the water bottle. When I notice the water isn’t straight I have been straightening it back out and checking it works. When the bottle is tilted there is bubble coming up when he is using it so I know it works. If I leave the bottle tilted he just drinks from as normal without first tilting it.

Any ideas why he has started to tilt the bottle before he will drink from it.

Some humans sip their pint and others down it. Same with hamsters i guess. One of my Syrians drinks from his bottle sideways. No idea why buy as long as he drinks i'm not worried. You could give your hamster a water bowl as an additional source of water so he can chose between bottle and bowl.

It does just sound as though your ham is more comfortable drinking that way, I wouldn’t worry as long as he is managing to drink ok.
