Default Stopped pooping in sand bath

Hi there!

A few months ago, we bought our hamster a sand bath. He loved it, and promptly started using it as a litter box. I’d scoop out a good amount of poop every day.

A few weeks ago, he stopped pooping in there out of nowhere. I know he’s still going into the bath because I’ll see pieces of bedding or food in there, but no poop anymore! Is there a reason why this might’ve happened? Also, is there a way for me to encourage him to start pooping in there again? It made spot cleaning a LOT easier, since he has a big cage and likes to burrow. I haven’t really been able to find his poop to spot clean since, because I honestly have no idea where he’s going and there is just so much bedding to go through.

Scooping out his sand was so much easier, ha! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Only advice i can give is not to worry about poops. I don't.
Poops don't smell so don't need frequent cleaning out.

Cleaning out hamster poop is entirely unnecessary actually, unlike many other species. It is odorless(as far as normal healthy poops go) - plus, hamsters actually happen to be one of a variety of species who eat their own poop for very important nutritional value and as such many will even go as far as hoarding it which is a completely natural behavior that we should never discourage or try to stop!
