Default Is my hamster over exercising?

Hello I'm new here and a first time hamster mom!

I have had my male syrian for a little over a week now and am wondering if his behavior is normal. He usually comes out of his hide around 10pm and immediately starts running on his wheel. He'll run for hours and only take occasional breaks to eat or drink. When I'm awake I rarely see him in his bedding or anywhere besides his wheel. Is this normal behavior or should I be worried? He has a large enclosure with more than 600sq inches of floor space, 7 inches of bedding and several hides and chews. I have a very hard time getting his attention for taming as well. He will stop and take treats I hand to him but won't stop for treats if I place them on my palm. I know I haven't had him long but I'm just not sure how I can get his attention and if what he's doing is normal. Any opinions and advice would be helpful!

I can't speak from any kind of real knowledge, but I can tell you that my hamster does similarly. Wakes up, runs literally for 3-4 hours with water breaks in between. I'm a bit jealous. Wish I could that.

This is quite normal behaviour for a new ham, they will often run in the wheel if nervous or a bit stressed which he may still be after only a week, I would keep offering treats as you are & just spend time talking to him while he’s running in the wheel & he’ll begin to get more comfortable being around you.
