Default Please help! new Syrian hamster chewing bars

I posted before that we have a new hamster. She is lovely and after a few weeks now she lets us handle her, feed her etc. She never bites or anything, very sweet.
BUT she is constantly chewing the bars! She has a very large cage, a big wheel, lots of toys and get plenty of play time and attention every day. The only thing she doesn't have is an exercise ball because we were told that they're not good for hamsters and also we don't know which one is best for her.

Is it ok to put olive oil on the bars? We heard that this might stop her from chewing but is it safe for her?
Unfortunately we can't get a glass cage at the moment so would love to know what else we can try to stop the chewing. I'm thinking we could maybe tie some sticks to the bars?

Any help/advice please help, we are getting worried that she might hurt her face
