Default Peeing in burrow?

Will hamster make there pee spot in the burrows ?

We have had mokie for about a week now and 5 days in his bin cage. I still haven't seen any signs of a pee spot I have found he like to poop in his food dish. Hope that stops soon but wondering if the reason I can find or see any pee is cause he doing it in his burrows. If so do I need to do a full cage clean more often then ?

I wouldn’t worry about poo in the food bowl, they eat some of it anyway so it won’t do any harm in there, you can just clean it out when you’re putting fresh food in if need be.
5 days isn’t long, sometimes it takes them a while to settle on one pee spot & they may pee in various places to begin with making it hard to find as there’s so little of it.
Give it a bit longer & if you can’t find an obvious pee spot then have a look through the substrate where your ham sleeps, they do sometimes pee in or close to the nest, you might find putting a litter tray with some sand & a little peed on substrate close to the pee spot will encourage your ham to use it.
Try not to do full cage cleans, you should find one main pee spot at some point & be able to just clean that area.

Agreed, though my boy immediately took to peeing in a trixie corner litter tray with sand. I've had him over 7 months and only had a handful of occasions when he has pee'd elsewhere. I therefore think corner litter trays are a worthwhile investment.
