Default Cage Climbing and Bar Biting?

My dwarf hamster (6 months old) has been biting the bars of her cage and climbing up the sides. The cage is nice and big and has lots of space for her to run and burrow so I don't think the problem is the cage size. I was wondering if the biting had something to do with her trying to trim her teeth or something? She just nibbles the bar for a brief moment and then stops.

I had some wooden toys in there for a while for her to chew on but she didn't show a lot of interest in them. I took them out because I wasn't sure what kind of wood they were made out of and I heard that pine was bad and didn't want to take any chances.

I thought that maybe this behavior was due to boredom so I took her out to run in her ball but once out she just sits in the ball half the she's out anyway. She also has two different kinds of wheels to run on. If she's doing this to get attention I don't want to reward the behavior by putting her in her ball every time she does this but I was thinking she might just need a change of scenery.

The climbing sometimes seems to be an attempt to see out of the plastic base of the cage and sometimes she climbs up the side to get to the second story platform but other times she climbs all the way up the side of the cage.

Is she trying to escape or to get my attention or something or is this just that I should more or less expect from a very young and energetic hamster?
