How often to clean out nest
I have a Syrian female who is about 8 months old ( Not completely sure.) So, she built her nest underneath in her burrowing area originally. I usually go in to make sure nothing is gross and wet in there about every 2-3 weeks. There usually isn't too much to clean down there anyway since she doesn't go to the bathroom there. However, the past two days she seemed to move her nest to behind her wheel. Today I went into her old nest to see if there was something wrong with it to make her want to move since it has been her home since day 1. It smelled really bad of urine. She had peed all in her nest. I cleared out everything down there and replaced some of her hoard with new food since I had to empty it. Anyway, I'm now curious that if she does move back and continues to go potty down there, how often should I go in to clean it out? I know going into the nest stresses them out very bad, but I also don't want the ammonia to build up and her get sick from it.
The pictures are just because I don't think I've ever uploaded any of her haha

Re: How often to clean out nest
Cute baby That’s a very good question, I’ve had my hammy a week & I’m scared to go in his bedding area for fear of upsetting him... but then I’m worried he’s weeing in there & his food is going mouldy *♀️ Looking forward to seeing what advice people give you!

Re: How often to clean out nest
I'm no expert but I clean the area my little one pees in every 3 days. Although I've been lucky since the start and he has never decided to really go in his nest so I'm not sure if that is what our more experienced members would recommend.
On the 3rd day I can smell it when I walk in the room so I'm sure I do it more for my sake than Snowballs. Every time I move/clean something in his cage I hide a sunflower seed in that area so at least he comes back in and has to look around (leave his scent) so it isn't a totally horrible thing for him.
