My hamster is less active
Lately my hamster has been in her nest all the time. I stay up most of the night, and I haven’t seen her out in a while. Although, I can’t speak for when I’m sleeping. She’ll come out occasionally to eat and drink, but over all is just inactive. She currently has 630 sq in of floor space, and lots of toys. I don’t know if it’s boredom or if she’s sick? She seems overall healthy from what I’ve seen.
I recently arranged her enclosure, I don’t know if that has to do with anything.
I’m just really worried and hope she isn’t actually sick, and just looking for any advice or tips.

Re: My hamster is less active
Do you mean you changed things in her enclosure? That could be the reason why, they mostly don't like things being changed in their cages or too much cleaning (only do what is really necessary) so she could have been upset by that & just waiting till it's dark & quiet before coming out.
How old is she? They do become less active as they get older.
Try to keep an eye on her when she comes out for food or a drink, if you don't see her for too long or there are signs she's not eating then get her out for a health check to see if there are any signs of illness or weight loss that you can see.

Re: My hamster is less active
Yeah, I thought she was showing some signs of boredom so I bought some more stuff to maybe help with that, so I moved things around so everything could fit. She came out last night for a good amount of time, and she seems healthy other than her being a little more jumpy as usual. I’m thinking it might be due to moving things around or maybe something spooked her? She’s about three months old, so I just eliminated old age as a factor.
Thank you by the way!!

I would say she probably is a bit timid with the change of things in her enclosure. As long as she is eating and drinking, I wouldn't worry too much. She probably just needs a minute to get used to everything again.
