Unhappy I need some help with my new hamster

Hello HC community

This is my first post and I’m a noob hamster owner.

I got my Syrian hamster Snuffles last Saturday and I’ve been mostly trying to leave her too it to settle in to her new surroundings, especially since the day I got her I had to move her stuff around to fit in her wheel.
Most of what she does is normal I’ve been told for a new hamster: sleeping a lot, wasn’t eating really for a few days and being nervous etc.
But recently I’ve caught her biting bars and the plastic platform. I wasn’t sure if she was stressed so I gave her a treat because she seemed skittish/nervous and she bit me (I don’t think it was out of aggression though).
She had lots of toys to chew on and she’s in a decent sized cage (I have an Alaska cage)

I was just wondering if you guys could give me some advice? Should I be worried? What can I do to make her feel happy?

Congrats on your first ham!
It's only been a few days really so she may still take some time to settle. If you can post a photo of your cage set up we may be able to make suggestions if there are any changes that might help.
The Alaska is a reasonably large cage so she should have enough space, what kind of chews & toys does she have? A lot of chews & toys aren't really of much interest to them but most love whimzee dog chews & that may distract her from chewing the bars.
Does she have a good sized house with no base on the substrate & lots of nesting material, toilet tissue, as well as her basic substrate? Having the right kind of house will really help her settle.
It's best to try to ignore them while they are bar chewing as it can become a bit of an attention seeking habit if you keep responding to it so best to leave her then maybe give her a treat when she stops again.
