Default Taming - I've got a road block

Hi guys.

I'm looking for some taming advice. It's been about 6 weeks since I got my female Syrian. She's about 5 months old. She will eat out of my hand, will come to the cage door for treats, she doesn't seem at all fazed by light or sound when I'm in the room and actually seems quite inquisitive. I sit in her playpen with me and she'll crawl on me including on my hands.

BUT

As soon as I try and actually lift her she'll panic and jump off (I keep her close to the ground so she won't hurt herself) or she will be so nervous she'll start trembling.

I don't really have any ideas as to how to get her ok with being picked up. I don't want it to become a problem if she needs a health check or something. I haven't had this problem with previous hamsters, but Peggy has a lot more energy than they did! If I want to get her out of her cage I let her crawl into a box to lift her out.

Thank you in advance for your help!

When you are playing with her, do you let her crawl on to your hands then off again? Or do you keep hold of her?
Also, when she is on your hand, do you let her crawl on to the next hand, then put the other hand in front of that one and let her crawl on to that hand, and then just keep doing this. I normally do it up to 10 times (you could start at 2 and build up) then let the hamster roam off again. Then do it again when she has had a bit of doing what she wants to do.

When she crawls onto my hand I keep my palm flat, I don't try to hold her in a way that she will feel restricted.

Thank you for the advice. I will try, if she doesn't run away first!
