Re: Appears confident rescue syrian - advice please
Actually the only ones in stock with amazon for next day delivery are the maxi dubs multy and Savic mickey 2xl (80 x 50).
If you have a pets at home near you they sell the Savic hamster plaza and ruffy cages. Can you fit a 100cm cage? If so I’d get the maxi duna multy or Savic plaza. If you can’t fit that size then the mickey 2xl is a good cage. I used it for our Syrian before upgrading him to a 100 Cm and it’s ideal for a dwarf hamster in the future. It’s a bit lower than the Alaska so not all wheels will fit but 11” ones will - depends how you set it up. Pets at home also sell the Savic sky which is basically the same cage without the narrow bar spacing- a good cage if you block off the top tubes.
Quickest option would be a trip to pets at home But you can call first and see if they have those cages in stock. The maxi duna multy is expensive but also future proof as also good for a Syrian or dwarf hamster.

I’ve had an email that the courier has it so I will wait, hopefully it won’t be long, I’ve bribed her with loo roll and a couple of chamomile buds hopefully that will settle her a little.

Haha! Hamsters are willful little things and soon let us know when they're not happy.
Did you cut out the base of the cardboard box so it sits directly on the substrate? I forgot to mention that.

Yes it was just the sides and top, I put it over her nest and hoard without disturbing it but she lost the plot! There’s no room for it anywhere else so back to plan A, gave her more substrate and loo roll to make everything better. Loo roll seems to fix everything at the moment

Yes, loo roll and the cardboard tubes are hamster favourites. Whimzee dog chews are another hamster essential.

I can pick up my Alaska, wheel & stuff tomorrow morning, I will get it set up ready while she sleeps and try her in it in the evening when she wakes up, I will post a photo once set up to see if I’ve missed anything.

Re: Appears confident rescue syrian - advice please
She’s moved in, the cage is still a work in progress, I want to replace the plastic shelf and create a second level of play similar to Ria’s setup. I put The grass hammock up to reduce the height thinking she would feel happier under it, but she got on it she is in her wheel I think she might sleep well tonight, no signs of feeling overwhelmed, I sprinkled her old substrate all over the place and put her nest and hoard in as best as I could without destroying it, let’s see what she does with the place
