Question Hamster sleeping schedule

My hamster seems to only be awake about an hour every night (and I have stayed up all night and he still is only awake from 5-6) is this normal? All other people have said their hamsters are up 4 and 5 hours. Thank you

How old is your hamster? If it is an old(er) hamster this could happen.
Or, is it a new hamster, still getting used to it's home.
Is it still eating and drinking, doesn't seem ill?

Fairly young hamster. Have had him for about two months. He eats great. Constantly chowing down and he drinks good too. Does not seem ill. When he is awake he’s very hyper and playful

I have a hamster who waits until i've gone to bed before he stays out of his house to do his hamster stuff.

You could set up a night camera to find out what he's up to and when. I've got a feeling that he's up when you are asleep or waits until you've gone to bed. Some hamsters are like that but have no idea why.

Another thing to keep in mind is that hamsters are not always asleep when they are in their house. Mine is a lazy, male Syrian who loves being in his nest in his house with a big hoard but i hear him crunching and cluttering about often enough.

My robo is up at 5pm-8pm, then 10pm-2am and up again at 5am-8am. He also comes out various times of the day but that's for food, drink etc. Roborovskis are crepuscular in the wild and that means they're awake dawn and dusk normally.

Syrians are normally nocturnal in the wild meaning they come out at night. Athena definitely follows that rule. I never see her throughout the day, I hear her, but don't see her. She normally gets up around 11pm and goes back to sleep around 6am.

Lilith is up all different times during the day and becomes really active at around 9pm but to be honest the whole nocturnal thing goes straight out the window for her. Most awake Syrian I've ever seen, and she's the oldest.

Ghost is normally up properly after 6pm but never goes on his wheel or makes any noise until I've gone to bed. Then it's a symphony of wheels and bottles.

They're all individuals and some take longer to settle in than others. As long as they're eating and drinking ok then I wouldn't be too worried

my syrian gets up mid afternoon for his fresh veggies, then is in his house until around midnight-1am,he's not over keen on coming out of his habitat (eco green medium) usually, but when I get home at 4am (weird shifts) he'll come out for half-one hour and skitter about his play pen,or have some free running in the hall or kitchen ( hamster proof areas)

I hear him gnawing or rearranging his house when I cant see him, and there's often a 'spoilageheap'outside one of his house etrances ( he has the rodipet labyrinth house)

I sometimes think his habitat is just right for him, as he seems happy pottering around it- it has tunnels, caves, huge wheel, sandbath, walls and rocks, sometimes I switch his stuff for a climbing branch and foraging mat with treat puzzles, his substrate is deep enough for burrowing-(6-10inch) but he doesnt do much of that, and if it had less in his habitat he might want to come out more
