new dwarf rarely shows
Hi, I am new to this hamster forum and I got a new winter white dwarf hamster! I’ve only had her for 2 days and I know that’s not very long but I just wanted to check if it is normal that she doesn’t really come out much, there’s a long cardboard tube going up to her deep bedding and that’s where she is for the majority of the time, she comes out for food and water that I’ve left for her and I haven’t tried to handle her yet besides handing her a treat today. There’s nights where I have been up until 2am and she still hasn’t come out of her tube for more then 2 minutes while I have been awake. She also hasn’t been up to the little shelf which is where her wheel is so I am assuming that means she hasn’t been on her wheel anyway. It could just be because she’s only been here for a couple of days but I just wanted to double check everything is okay (Her name is Winnie)

Re: new dwarf rarely shows
She is still very new so she is adjusting to the environment. Just give her some more time and you will be seeing more of her once she is more comfortable. I know it's tempting to interact with her right now but I would give her a few more days to get adjusted. You can move the wheel down to the bottom so she has access to it if you don't think she is using it. She may not know how the stairs/platform works or is scared. She also may be using it when you are sleeping too. Hamsters are most active in the evening/night. Mine doesn't come out a ton if at all during the day and "wakes up" around 10 pm.
