Robo food in wheel?
So we've had our little robo for 3 months now.
She was a rescue but we think she was young, so she's about 6 months we think.
She keeps weeing in her wheel and now has started to put her food in there.
Most days we have to clean her wheel due to the pee.
My others hamsters used to pee in their wheel but stopped after about a month.
I've not recently touched her food hoard, last big clean we 3 weeks ago, we spot clean.
She keeps collecting her food, run on her wheel then stop and take it out of her cheeks, then runs again (very noisy). Then she collects it up and does this thing over again.
We did take the food out a few times but she does then same things.
Any suggestions or had this before.
I hope she grows out of it soon.

Re: Robo food in wheel?
Mine do this as well. I think it's a dwarf thing! Chinese are the worst and love a pee shower! I just leave them too it and wipe out the wheel most days with some kitchen roll as they seem to be worse if you give it a full wash out!

Re: Robo food in wheel?
My robo does the same, I just clean the wheel every couple of days. If she's got a large hoard why not leave it a couple of days without food so she uses up some of her stash, keeps it fresher. I scatter feed Niko every other day and he still has a stash albeit a small one so I know I'm not under feeding him. With the food in the wheel I just tip the food out of it. If that becomes too annoying could you try the saucer type? It'll just fly off the wheel rather than bounce around

Re: Robo food in wheel?
Saucer type wheels really aren't a great solution unfortunately. They can work fine as a playpen toy, but they are no replacement for an upright wheel and hamsters really need a solid upright wheel. Upright wheels that are sized appropriately allow a natural running position, and despite marketing gimmicks flying saucers do not allow a natural running position.
