Regarding bar chewing: what kind of cage is he in?

He’s currently in the biggest cage I could buy at the store:

He was fine in that cage (i replaced the wheel with a 10in one) but i sold it to a dwarf hamster and bought the Alaska from Zooplus for £30. The Alaska has a bit more room and i love the big front and top doors. So much more practical for interaction with the hamster, spot cleaning etc.

Hopefully soon I’ll purchase that cage or my other hamster’s cage which is slightly bigger than Edward’s. He’s just kind of obsessed with climbing the bars. It’s difficult to tell if it’s stress, which with my other hamster he only climbed the bars when he outgrew his wheel, or if it’s just hyperness. I’m just gonna put him in the play pen to burn some energy when he wakes up I guess, even tho he still tries to frantically escape there too

Re: Stressed hammie
It’s hilarious how differently Arthur and Edward’s taming process went. Arthur was exactly the typical hamsters you see on YouTube and I tamed him exactly by the textbook - treats by fingers, then palm, then bath. So calm and easy. Edward, on the other hand, is so hyper that he’ll literally be so focused on exploring/running/escaping that he’ll climb right onto my hand without a care in the world. I wish I could ask him if everything’s okay and he’s just a really hyper hamster lol. He’s got a decent sized cage, lotsssss of bedding, a 12 inch wheel and loads of chews/hideouts/treats. Hamsters are complex lil animals (I say while Edward is trying to climb on top of his water bottle for the 500th time in half an hour)
