New Dwarf Snuffling Sounds?!?
Hi guys I've just purchased my first ever dwarf earlier today and he seemed fine on the drive home but once I placed him in the cage he started running around making little sniffing or Snuffling noises I got super worried and thought he may have a respiratory infection but he didn't make any sounds like that before I placed him in so is he just curious?
When he's sleeping the noises stop and sometimes when he's running around he stops making the sounds so I don't think it's the noise of him breathing as if it was I'm sure it would be continuous.
Should I wait a few days and see? Is this normal behaviour? Other than that he's eating and drinking fine and exploring and running the wheel
Any advice or has anyone experienced this?

I’ve never heard a hamster do this. Did you ask whoever you bought it from ?

Re: New Dwarf Snuffling Sounds?!?
My syrian does this. Whenever he's excited or annoyed he'll sometimes "huff", I too thought he had a respiratory issue until I realized he only did it when I was being a nuisance in his cage.

Re: New Dwarf Snuffling Sounds?!?
My new dwarf has been making a "pip...pip...pip" noise when I took him out to socialise him. Is this the noise you're referring to? As I've been questioning this myself.
I have only had him for 48 hrs. He nibbled my fingers and started to crawl over my hands. Then tried to chew up the blanket I put in the bathtub.
Anyone know what this is?
