My TayTay won’t use bathing sand
So I finally tracked down bathing sand not dust, and she couldn’t be less interested.
I have it in her bin cage in a good size mason jar laid down horizontally. She’ll sniff it, move it around a bit and leave.
Total honesty- even in my 12 years of owning hamsters (almost exclusively dwarfs) this is the first time I’m putting bathing sand in a cage. I never had a greasy or unclean hamster and to Ben honest I was only made aware of it being a thing for dwarfs only a few years ago.
While it doesn’t worry me any I am a bit frustrated she has absolutely no interest in when I read post after post of people considering bathing sand to be a must have and how other fur babies gravitate to it.
Suggestions?

Give her time. She may not know what it is yet.

Re: My TayTay won’t use bathing sand
You could try and put the sand in a big dish or bowl. My Robo's sand is in a square pie dish from my kitchen and he runs around in it, eats and grooms but doesn't bathe as in rolling about to clean his coat.
I took it out yesterday to sieve the seed husks out and he came rushing from his nest and sat in the empty space looking for it.
My Syrian used to dig in his sand but now sits in it to groom or walks around.
I think they like the feel of the sand under their paws like some people like to walk barefoot on the beach.
That's my theory anyway.

Re: My TayTay won’t use bathing sand
Eddie doesn't roll in his sand. He's always had it there but doesn't roll. He uses one end as a toilet and stands on his hind legs at the other end, gathers sand with his front paws and appears to rub it on his belly. He's a funny one. Don't worry if your little fur bean isn't wanting to play queen of the dessert. As frustrating as it must be having gone to so much effort, I doubt it's bothering her.
