Hamsters escaping

I have to brother hamsters that I've had for about 2 months. For the first couple weeks that I had them, they lived together in a cage. However, due to some squabbling, I separated them and now they are living in a divided 8 by 2 foot cage, giving the each 4 by 2 foot. Recently, they have started escaping through the barrier, into the other hamsters cage. The first time I found them they were fighting, rather seriously, but I separated check for injuries and found the hole and fixed it. They managed to break through hole later that night and then continued fighting. I created an solid barrier that fits the cage perfectly but they still managed to get through. However from what I've been able to tell is that they are no longer fighting. They are living like how they were in the bin cage, climbing and exploring without worrying about the other.

They don't appear to be attempting to escape through any other walls and they only try and get through the middle barrier. Everytime I seperate, I check both of them for injuries and check the wall for any holes. I might not be as creative and a hamster but I can't find anywhere they're getting through. Is it possible that they just enjoy each other or are they upset over the smell of another male? They are bother Campbell's Dwarfs and I don't know how old they are. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am pretty new to hamsters.
