Has your hammy ever made this similar sound?
I'm just confirming if I'm right and making sure that I hope its because I annoyed her and its not anything to worry about but anyway
It was my first time hearing her make this low buzzing sound and it only happened once for like 2 seconds and it was while she was being a sleepy puffball hammy on her tree stump and she made the noise right after I petted her. .... SHe didn't make the noise WHILE petting her though just after I took my hand away.
I'm thinking that I might've annoyed her and/or startled her? or Shes telling me to go away? Just wondering if I'm right and if other peoples hammies made a similar sound and what were you doing with them at the time when they made the sound?? bc I haven't heard her make that noise since after I started to respect her tree stump XD

Re: Has your hammy ever made this similar sound?
All my Russians have made that noise atleast twice! I call it the zippy sound lol Its generally a territorial or fear behaviour, mine have made the zippy sound when their nest has been accidentally disturbed, when i’ve put my hands in their cages (if theyre cage-aggressive), when they were shy scared babies, when theyre having bad dreams (yes hammies dream!!), etc
In your case, it sounds like she was saying “hey im sleeping, leave me alone”

Re: Has your hammy ever made this similar sound?
Lol! That Zippy sound! cute it actually did sound like a zipper lol
Aw It was sometime after 2am and she just woke up after sleeping all day and she came out of her hidey to be sleepy on her stump so I thought it was okay to pet her lol I shouldve waited but I was tired and wanted to sleep after I saw her
Oh yeah! and Today I was observing her and I realized that shes been stashing her food inside her tree stump so it makes sense if she was being territorial around it lol that seems to be only place shes being a sleepy puffball. Shes always sitting on top of it as soon as she wakes up and now I know why :P

Is it the vibrating thing? It's unknown why they do that but in my experience it's different things. Either anger, or shock or excitement.

Hammy Bear is black and we leave the lights in the room dim for her, so I couldn't see if she was vibrating or not when she made the noise lol but yeah I'm still experiencing first time hammy stuff with her
