Default Fitch Bedding?

I've looked at multiple bedding choices ranging from CareFresh, Kaytee and Aspen but I've recently come across Fitch Bedding which is a WHOLE lot cheaper then CareFresh and Kaytee. Is Fitch suitable/safe for hamsters?

Also while I'm here, my previous hamsters loved having a bendy tunnel to go in and out but there have been horror stories about the hamsters digesting the plastic the tunnel is made out of and injuring themselves. Are there any alternatives other than toilet roles? (preferably something that bends into a U shape)

Yes Fitch is fine. Quite similar to c&c and better than carefresh I think.
It is best to avoid plastic if you can help it, if chewed it can cause all sorts of damage. Cork tunnels are great - zooplus medium size are good for Syrians or you can find them in reptile stores. Maybe hyacinth tunnels too (also zooplus) and that kind of material. Not exactly U shaped but the cork tunnels are all unique in shape and size and I think are a lot better than those bendy tunnels anyway. I’m assuming you have the usual bendy wooden bridges already but if not those are great too.

Fitch is safe!

Its best to use those bendy tunnels for out of cage time only tbh. You could buy grass tunnels or even make some yourself out of cardboard.

I have also used Ferplast tubes with some of my dwarf hamsters without any chewing issues, it’s important to regularly inspect them just in case the connectors get chewed since theyre soft plastic tho
