Weird rubbing on sides?
I've started to tame my new adopted syrian.
I open the cage door and she's just started to approach me and take treats.
I've started stroking her a little bit so she's used to hands touching her.
Today she walked off and rubbed her sides on her cage side and toys, kind of like a cat scenting furniture.
Also she stretch yawns more than I'd expect.
Could it be stress related from been handled?
I've read this can be something syrians do.
It's only day 7, and I've touched her for 2 days.
I'm just going to feed her treats and not stroke her to check it's just stress.
She's never done it before today.

Re: Weird rubbing on sides?
It sounds like she's just scent marking her cage All sounds normal.

Re: Weird rubbing on sides?
Hello! Sounds like she's taming up really well Syrians especially will mark up their territory to claim it as their own, by rubbing their sides (that's where their scent glands are) against things. My little Syrian girl does this a lot, especially in her favourite hideouts or boxes!
Stretch yawning is a good sign too; she's getting fairly chilled out being around you

Re: Weird rubbing on sides?
I wasn't sure if it was stress from been in a new place and I'm still a stranger to her.
As I read they can stress stretch. I am a worry person, so I assume it's the negative.
I didn't know they scented things, like cats, but it makes logical sense.
I'll still be feeding her everyday treat so she gets used to me and that I wont harm her.
I do break the treat up into small bit.
